Guernsey Astronomy Section All-Sky Camera

In March 2017 the observatory purchased a Starlight Xpress Oculus all sky camera. It uses a CCD sensor fitted with a 150-degree fish-eye lens. The camera is programmed to continuously capture images between astronomical dusk and dawn; each exposure is typically 45 seconds. The latest image as it is captured is uploaded to the obsevatories web site and at the end of the night the images are assembled into a time-lapse video allowing the whole night to be reviewed.
